Brand That Magic!

Branding and spellwork might seem like they come from totally different worlds – one corporate, one cosmic – but they’re more alike than you think. At the heart of both is the same core principle: Clear intention + consistent energy = powerful results.
When businesses brand themselves, they’re creating a message. Something that cuts through the noise and says: Here’s who we are, here’s what we stand for, and here’s how we engage. When you cast a spell, you’re doing pretty much the same thing. Your words, tools, colors, actions, and timing all communicate something – to the universe, your subconscious, and your energetic field. So what happens when we start to treat spellwork like a form of personal magical branding?
Well, you get sharper intentions, your energy gets a bit more aligned, and your spellwork and ritual starts landing a lot more consistently. Let’s dive into a couple of powerful messaging frameworks from the world of branding and business, and explore the ways they can make your spellwork stronger, clearer, and a lot more you.
The FAB Formula: Features, Advantages, Benefits
This classic sales tool helps businesses explain the value of what they offer. FAB stands for:
- Feature – What is it?
- Advantage – Why does it work?
- Benefit – What result does it create?
Let’s break it down for spellwork. When it comes to the Feature, ask yourself What is this spell doing? Describe the ritual, tool, or practice – for instance, “A green candle spell for drawing in new job opportunities.” OK, so what’s the Advantage? That’s where you ask Why this method? In the case of our green candle spell, it might be “Green supports growth, luck, and career movement. I’m using bay leaves and citrine to amplify that intention.” And then we have the Benefit, which puts in the question What’s the transformation? This is the part where we figure out WHY it matters – the result you want to feel or experience. Again, going back to our green candle job spell, it might be “So I can feel secure, confident, and aligned with my professional path.”
When you write out your FAB spell summary, it becomes a mini ritual plan, and a powerful intention primer all in one. To give this a whirl, choose one of your go-to rituals and break it down using the FAB method. You might be surprised at how much clarity you gain.
Brand Voice Framework: What’s Your Magical Tone?
Just like businesses have brand voices – quirky, bold, elegant, soft – you do too. Your magical “voice” is the tone and texture of how you express your power. Ask yourself what your vibe is. Are you a dreamy, ethereal sort of witch or a practical, “just the facts” one? Do you love long complex incantations or would you rather keep it short and direct? Is your magic colorful and elaborate, or is it quiet and minimalist in approach? When you embrace your unique magical voice, you stop trying to cast spells the way others do, and start crafting rituals that sound, feel, and flow like you. Pro tip: write your own standard spell invocation using your personal tone. It could be dramatic, simple, rhyming, snarky, reverent – whatever feels authentic and real. This becomes a core piece of your brand voice in magic.
The Unique Value Proposition (UVP): Focus Your Spell’s Message
I touched on this in my last post so I’m not going to go into a ton of detail all over again, but it’s worth highlighting here too. Your magical UVP helps you state exactly what you want, why you want it, and why now is the right time. Here’s the template again:
“I am calling in [desire] through [method/tool] because [reason/need], and I’m ready for this shift now because [timing/personal alignment].”
This statement isn’t just a planning tool, it’s your spell anchor. Write it on your petition paper, whisper it before casting, or turn it into a sigil, and let it become the heart of your magical message.
Consistency Builds Power
In business, brand consistency builds trust and recognition. The same goes for your magical practice. Consistency doesn’t mean rigid routines, it means energetic alignment. When your spells, rituals, goals, and values point in the same direction, your magic becomes more cohesive and more effective. Does your altar reflect your current magical focus? Are your rituals reinforcing the same core goals? Is your language (written or spoken) aligned with what you’re trying to attract? If not, it might be time for a magical brand refresh.
Bringing It All Together: Spell Messaging in Practice
Let’s look at a real-world example. Say you’re crafting a spell to attract clients for your tarot readings.
-
FAB breakdown:
- Feature: Weekly client-drawing candle spell with cinnamon and bay.
- Advantage: These ingredients are traditional for attracting money and fast action.
- Benefit: I bring in aligned clients who are excited to work with me and value my insight.
-
Voice: Playful but confident, with a touch of mysticism.
-
UVP:
“I am calling in five new clients through a weekly candle ritual because I offer intuitive, clear guidance that helps people navigate change. I’m ready for this growth now because my practice is rooted, and my energy is aligned with expansion.”
Imagine casting a spell with that kind of message behind it. There’s no vagueness, no hesitation – just clarity, confidence, and power. Because branding isn’t about selling, it’s about showing up with clarity and alignment. The same is true in magic. When your words, tools, symbols, and tone all tell the same story – your story – your magic lands faster, and it feels more like you. So next time you sit down to cast, try channeling your inner brand strategist – ask yourself What’s my message? What’s my vibe? What am I really trying to create here?
Then speak it into being, and celebrate your success.
