Pirate's Alphabet

About Pirate's Alphabet:

 Pirate's Alphabet
is much more than just an alphabet book.  It’s a geography lesson, it’s history —look for references to Hispaniola and Davy Jones Locker, among others— and adventure all rolled into one!  This book is the journey of a pirate captain and his ragtag gang.  Join them as they travel from one port to another, hunting for treasure and trying to avoid capture.  Readers of all ages will enjoy the rollicking rhymes, and Kit Umscheid’s clever watercolor illustrations are delightful!   Kit has really captured the sense of playfulness of the pirates as well as bringing depth and feeling to them, and I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with her!

One of my favorite features of this book is the Pirate's Vocabulary list at the back -- fun definitions are provided as a teaching tool for parents and educators alike.

Read the Times-Sun newspaper -- Wigington's Book Helps Teach Young Children.  How neat is that?  A huge thanks to Dave Owen for the awesome job he did on the story!
